SME Innovation Day

In June, our colleagues Gerrit Schaper, Franziska Gebauer, and Anne Morgenstern attended the SME Innovation Day hosted by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE).

The focus was on two current research projects related to fiber-based packaging solutions: InFormTech and Altpapier BB. While InFormTech investigates how air-laid and wet-laid nonwoven fabrics can be formed into wrinkle-free, functional packaging components, Altpapier BB focuses on how a block-bottom pouch made from paper-recyclable material can preserve flavors, regulate moisture, and resist microbial contamination.

The PTS team was supported by their project partners Lissy Walcha and Stefan Walcha from Heinrich Ludwig Verpackungsmittel GmbH, as well as Holger Schubert from the Technical University of Dresden.

Once again, Innovation Day provided a valuable platform for dialogue among researchers, small and medium-sized businesses, and practitioners. We would like to thank all visitors for their interest, the discussions, and the new ideas.
