Automatic quality control for baled paper for recycling (BALEMAT and BALE TESTER)
Together with our development partners — experienced and established machine manufacturers — we develop automated waste paper evaluation stations according to individual requirements for the paper industry. The systems use NIR measurement technology and our proven evaluation algorithms to determine the quality parameters of baled paper for recycling across the bale cross-section.
Automated inspection of baled paper for recycling enables you to objectively, quickly and efficiently assess its quality and to avoid additional personnel costs for manual visual inspections.
Our development partners:
- Haarla Oy - Machine manufacturer and specialized supplier to the process industry – Product: BALEMAT
- VALMET - Developer and supplier of process technologies, automation and services – Product: BALE TESTER
Both product systems are designed for measurements of baled paper for recycling directly on the truck bed, but can also evaluate individual bales that are placed on a test position.
BALEMAT
Together with the Finnish machine manufacturer Haarla Oy, we have developed the automated evaluation station BALEMAT. With the latest version, bales of recovered paper can be sampled and evaluated directly along their entire length and height at any position on a truck bed. Thanks to the durable and sharpenable special drill head, the drilling required before each measurement takes only a few seconds and allows a quick check of the entire truck load.
Only the BALEMAT is optionally available with additional whiteness measurement, thus opening up recycling applications for higher grades of recovered paper.

BALE TESTER
The BALE TESTER was developed and marketed in cooperation with VALMET. Unlike the BALEMAT, this system analyses a drill core. A relatively large sample is cut out of the baled paper for recycling in one piece as a drill core, which is then analyzed by NIR measurement technology
