pH value of the hot extract

The pH value of the hot extract can be carried out according to ISO 6588-2, DIN 53124 or TAPPI 252 om-02.

Depending on the standard, the corresponding amount of sample is to be weighed in. The extractable electrolytes are dissolved out with deionised hot water. The sample is kept boiling for one hour under reflux. The extract is then cooled quickly, transferred via a glass frit into another glass flask and the pH value is measured.

Measuring pH and conductivity is a quick and easy method for characterising the inorganic contaminant load.
