School meets research: MANOS visits PTS

As part of their science project week, students from the Martin Andersen Nexö Gymnasium Dresden (MANOS), a school specializing in mathematics and natural sciences, visited us over the past few days for a internship at our pilot plants and laboratories.

Instead of just discussing paper in theory at school, the students were able to experience firsthand how it is made and how complex and research-intensive this everyday material actually is.

Practical insights into industrial research

The focus was on independent work in the laboratory. From sheet-forming and fibre moulding to examining samples with a scanning electron microscope, the students gained in-depth insights into current issues in paper and fiber research.

It wasn't just about observing, but about actively participating:
The teenagers planned their experiments independently, carried them out, and evaluated their results in a structured manner. They discussed hypotheses, developed solutions, and took responsibility for their projects—all in line with scientific working methods.

Supporting young talent as part of our identity

As a research and transfer partner to industry, it is important to us to inspire enthusiasm for science and technology at an early age. Formats such as this project week provide valuable insights into applied research and highlight the career opportunities available in the field of fiber technology and paper manufacturing.

We would like to thank our dedicated colleagues and the motivated young talents from MANOS for their visit and their spirit of scientific inquiry.

We look forward to seeing you again!
