Water Retention Value (WRV)

Article number:
510021
Norm:
ISO 23714

The Water Retention Value (WRV) is determined according to ISO 23714. It is the ratio of the mass of water obtained after centrifugation of a wet pulp sample under specified conditions (30 min at 3000 g) and the oven dry mass of the same pulp sample.

The WRV allows conclusions to be drawn about the dewatering behavior of the pulp on a paper machine. The higher the WRV, the more energy is required to dewater and dry the pulp.
