The thickness of papers (µm) is determined with a micrometer. The pressure acting between the pressure surfaces is 100 ± 10 kPa on an area of 200 mm². The determination can be made on single sheets as well as on paper stacks.

The material thickness forms the basis for calculating further material parameters and is used to select parameters for mechanical tests.
